Wado-kai is the style of Japanese karate founded in 1934 by Prof. HIRONORI OHTSUKA (Meijin Judan – Black Belt). Wado-kai is one of the four major style of Japanese karate. The other three are Shotokan, Gojuryu & Shitoryu.

The full name of the style is wado-kai Karatedo
’Wa’ means peace or calm
‘Do’ means way
’Kai’ means organization or club

Wado-kai is different from other style because Ohstuka Sensei taught students to use Taisabaki (body shifting) & Nagashi (evassion) which evade the full force of an attack.
At the same time they position the body for a counter attack.

Master Ohstuka included in his new syllabus Jiyu Kumite (free fighting technique) he has developed Idori-no kata (kneeling defense), Tanto-dori (knife defense) & Tachi-sword (sword defence).

The ultimate goal of Wado-kai is to develop a peaceful yet fully aware mind that is able to react to any situation.

EXPLANATION OF LOGO :
The logo of Wado-kai is white pigeon who teaches us a peaceful life and first teaches us strength. This says that there is strength where there is peace.

PHYSIQUE :
Wado-kai style requires slim, medium height & flexible physique with intellectual & tricky mental attitude. It is famous for its fast punches & kicks with upright stances.

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR / NATIONAL COACH :
Sensei RAJESH AGRAWAL has been Wado-kai’s Tech. Director & National Coach since 1992. He has being training for 25 years & still enjoyed karate. He started training in 1982 and was trained under many top instructor’s in India & Japan as T.V. Narayan, Bal Pandian in India while Toru Arakawa. Seiji Neishmura, Takatomi Taura, Naoharu Shiroishi, Kango Sugiura, Hakaishi Katsumi, Syunsuke Yangaita, Satto Kohke, Katsimi etc. in Japan. He greatly admires and respects all of them.
Sensei Rajesh is also known as the founder of KENYA –WADO-KAI.
Sensei Rajesh holds a prestigious position in A.K.F. State and district body. He has also won several medals in National and International events & awarded referee certificate. Sensei Rajesh has organized 8 National and 3 International Karate Championship is association with IPCL, IOCL, INDIAN EXPRESS, and APC & GOVT. OFFICER’S CLUB.
In the championship countries like IRAN, NEPAL, SRI LANKA, BANGLADESH, etc. has participated.

FOUNDER OF WADO-KAI KARATEDO :
Wado-kai karate was founded by Prof. Hironori Ohstuka (Black Belt 10th degree 1892-1982) in 1934 by altering some of the shotokan movements learned from Master Gichin Funakoshi and incorporating some Jujuitsu techniques. He created a style of Karate with the major physical characteristics of speed, mobility, efficiency & effectiveness. His knowledge is still passing from instructor to students.
